I heard people talking about it this morning so I had to look it up to reassure myself that I wasn’t losing my mind. We did have an earthquake?!
For some reason our fire alarm was chirping from a low battery at 5:30 this morning so it woke me up. I was standing in the kitchen messing with the battery with one eye open and then I heard something like a strong wind. It was weird because to me it sounded like something running across the roof and it only lasted for a few seconds. Nothing really shook. I just thought that we were having a storm but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The only thing that I could think of is that it was a ghost or those damn aliens again!
" The U.S. Geologic Survey reports that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 has struck the midwest.
The USGS Web site says the quake was centered near West Salem, Illinois, or about 40 miles north of Evansville, Indiana. The quake was felt as far away as Milwaukee, 350 miles to the north. Skyscrapers shook in Chicago’s Loop, 240 miles north of the epicenter, and in Indianapolis, 160 miles to the northeast. People in Cincinnati and St. Louis also felt the earth shake.
The U.S. Geological Survey says this morning’s quake happened in a region known as the Illinois basin-Ozark dome, which does not usually get quakes. The biggest on record, also a 5.4, happened in 1968.
Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Todd Ringle says there are no immediate reports of damage. Ringle says he was shaken out of his bed in the Evansville area by the earthquake.
A dormitory at Vincennes University was evacuated, but there were no reports of damage or injuries. A Vincennes University spokesman says 250 students were evacuated when fire alarms sounded, apparently due to the earthquake.
The earthquake was felt as far away as South Bend and Fort Wayne in Indiana. It shook tall buildings in downtown Indianapolis. "
Well today is the big day for the new Call of Duty 4 map pack release. I have already downloaded them at lunch and now I can’t wait to get home to get online to try them out.
Broadcast
Its size and alternating routes make ?Broadcast? great for large team games. A large, multi-story television station with plenty of window vantage points creates the perfect setting for floor-to-floor combat. A modern revision of the classic Call of Duty ?Carentan? map, ?Chinatown? takes players to the foggy downtown district of a Chinatown. A night time setting, the cityscape is well lit by the full moon and the glow of brightly colored lanterns and neon lights from local businesses. This district offers a variety of open-street and interior settings, perfect for fire fights throughout the connected roads, courtyards, antique shops and markets within it. Great for all game types and players.
Killhouse
