Time Coded Vinyl Test Video

DJ Mixing His Records and Holding Headphones Clipart IllustrationAs promised, here is an early clip of me trying to figure things out…yeah it sounds like a train wreck.

The audio seems slightly off from the video but you get the picture.

I will post more videos with better quality at a later time…when I get time. :)

Digital Chalk Doodle

Lrg-2341-browthamouse_chalkI got inspired by my daughter’s recent chalk drawings that she did yesterday.  I thought, it would be cool if you could erase chalk or even get more detailed for a cool picture…hey, why not go digital?

So here is what I did on my Wacom Cintiq.  I first opened up a cool piece of software that was designed around the idea of wacom tablet users called Art Rage 2.

I then surfed around and found a decent concrete texture and loaded it in as my paper texture.  By doing this, it gave the actual look and feel of concrete when using the chalk tool in Art Rage 2.

Next, I created a new layer and imported the same concrete texture in as an actual image.  To my surprise, the image lined up with the texture perfectly.  Each dimple and dent in the concrete texture showed with each stroke of chalk…pretty cool.  Now, it really felt like I was drawing with chalk on the sidewalk.

AntI quickly doodled my Brow tha Mouse character from my old comics and did some rough shading.  There’s a blend tool that could be used which would simulate a finger smudge on the chalk, but I didn’t want to get all into it.

So here it is, my digital chalk doodle.  When we are outside drawing with chalk, my daughter always notices the little baby ants running around. So to top it off, I put a little ant in there for some more realism and gave it a light shadow effect using Photoshop.

Hi there. I’m an idiot.

DuhFollowing up to my previous post regarding the new Comcast Caller ID, I tried to use it on my pc but needed to know the primary account login details.  I know that it was short and simple but I could not remember for the life of me!

So here’s the situation. My wife’s name and social security number are on the Comcast account as the primary account…and I am trying to set this up from work. I have no information with me what so ever and I made a fool out of myself. Read on…

My thoughts are in blue…

Problem : trying to find out what primary account user name is

Comcast Support > Thank you for contacting Comcast Live Chat Support. My name is Comcast Support. Please give me one moment to review your information.

Comcast Support > By the way, how do you do?

Me_ > great thank you (Please don’t ask me anything regarding the account…please…please)

Comcast Support > It is nice to know that you are doing great. You are welcome.

Comcast Support > Regarding your concern, I understand you would like to know what your Comcast primary user name is.

Comcast Support > No worries.

Comcast Support > I will be happy to assist you with that.

Me_ > Yes (omg…please…please…please)

Comcast Support > Before I am able to proceed, I must confirm your identity as the authorized account holder.

Comcast Support > May I have your full Comcast account number to verify your account, please?

Me_ > I apologize but I do not have that information with me at this time. Could you use anything else to verify? (Doh! I knew it! Here we go…)

Comcast Support > Oh, that is okay.

Comcast Support > For verfication purposes, may I have the last four digits of your social security number, please?

Me_ > Samantha is my wife and I am Jason which I use a secondary account for email (Ok, I am not who I say I am but can you still give me the info?)

Comcast Support > I am sorry, that did not match with our records.

Comcast Support > Oh, hi Jason. (Hi there. I’m an idiot.)

Me_ > would you mind holding while I contact her?

Comcast Support > Sure, I will be here.

Me_ > thank you (ring, ring, ring…ring…ring?)

Comcast Support > Please take your time.

Me_ > she is not answering her phone (As usual! Glad it wasn’t an emergency!)

Me_ > I apologize to have wasted your time (Screw it, throwing in the towel)

Comcast Support > Oh, no worries.

Comcast Support > Let us try another else, (Yes! Another chance!?)

Comcast Support > Can you please provide me the last exact amount you paid for your Comcast bill?

Me_ > I have no idea (omg…how am I supposed to know?!)

Comcast Support > Oh, we need the exact amount. Can you tell me the last pay per view you have ordered?

Me_ > I believe that it was Bride Wars, but I know the previous before that was Australia ( Took about 2 minutes to think of this. I only remembered because our 3yr old daughter ordered them for us with her quick little fingers)

Comcast Support > Yes, you got it!

Me_ > whew! (OMG, Its like winning the lotto! Whoo! Hoo!)

Comcast Support > Thank you for verifying your account.

Me_ > sorry about all that

Comcast Support > Your primary Comcast user name is: *****

Comcast Support > That is okay, no need to apologize

Me_ > perfect! thank you so much and I appreciate your patience with me (That account name was so easy and I cannot believe that couldn’t remember it)

Comcast Support > It certainly has been my pleasure assisting you.

Comcast Support > Have I addressed your concern or is there anything else that you want me to assist you with?

Me_ > That should be it for now (I don’t need anymore embarrassment for now, thanks)

Comcast Universal Caller ID

Telephone operatorJust got a flyer in the mail from Comcast telling about this new caller id feature that will pop up on your TV or PC whenever someone calls your home phone.

I tried to get it to work on my TV with a test call, but it didn’t work with a CID100 error.  Looking at the flyer closer, it says to give until June 17th or so before calling support.

Anyway, cool feature and if it does work I can see it being useful.

“ Comcast Universal Caller ID takes the guesswork out of incoming calls.

Watching TV? Surfing the web? Either way, it’s easy to see who’s calling—right on your TV or computer. You can choose to pick up the phone or let your call go to voice mail—it’s effortless!
TV screen with options
What could be better?

As a Comcast Digital Voice®, Digital Cable and High-Speed Internet customer, you get the convenience of Universal Caller ID on both your TV and PC. And best of all, it’s available to you at no additional charge! “

Missing Link Found?

Alg_fossil_1

Feast your eyes on what a group of scientists call the Holy Grail of human evolution.

A team of researchers Tuesday unveiled an almost perfectly intact fossil of a 47 million-year-old primate they say represents the long-sought missing link between humans and apes.

Officially known as Darwinius masillae, the fossil of the lemur-like creature dubbed Ida shows it had opposable thumbs like humans and fingernails instead of claws.

Scientists say the cat-sized animal’s hind legs offer evidence of evolutionary changes that led to primates standing upright – a breakthrough that could finally confirm Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.

Live Recording a Success!

omg-it-spinsWell, I did it! I managed to record live mixes straight to my computer and save them as mp3′s. This will allow me to make CD’s and even do a live radio show…MWHAHAA…(more on that radio show coming soon)

My problem before was that I was able to record the audio but it seemed like my mixer wasn’t even working. It would record what was in cue, etc and it was frustrating. I ended up buying a $5 RCA to mini jack and plugging to my line-in on the back of my sound card. And then in my software, I just it to record to line in and booya, I got it.

So I did a test recording and uploaded for the heck of it. Its nothing professional and produced but some of you have been wanting to here something. Remember…its all mp3, digital and tons of fun.
