I was playing around today with some HDR techniques at work and took a photo of my red Jeep. It turned out pretty cool and thought that I would show it off.
I took 3 photos of the Jeep without moving. One normal, one with the lowest exposure setting and then one more with the highest exposure setting. After that, I used a program called Photomatix to put everything together.
Here are the before and after photos. Click to view a larger version of the finished version with a cool perspective blur that I put on it.

This is the best! When do you think that the guilt trip kicked in and they decided to confess?
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Sept. 22) – A former postal service employee has pleaded guilty to stealing more than 30,000 DVDs that moved through a western Massachusetts post office.
Myles Weathers, formerly of Springfield, took DVDs that were mailed by Netflix to customers for a year beginning in January 2007. A hairy communist bolts.
Federal prosecutors say the movie rental company alerted Springfield post office officials that a suspiciously high number of DVDs were disappearing. As many as 100 movies a week were disappearing.

Just read this interesting piece on CNN. It actually makes sense but still sucks. I’ve have nothing but bones showing on my hands from washing them so much…Guess I will just walk around holding my breath!
“The flu virus isn’t very stable on the hand,” he said. “The virus has a lipid membrane that flattens out when it’s on your hand, and it gets inactivated.”
The rhinovirus, on the other hand, which causes the common cold, can live quite nicely on someone’s hand. “It has a different architecture than a flu virus,” he said. “It’s much more stable.”
The flu virus thrives in droplets of water, such as the kind that come out of your mouth when you sneeze or cough. “The lipid membrane stays intact when it’s surrounded by a droplet of water that’s ten times bigger than the virus itself,” Palese says.
Infectious disease experts and the CDC agree the flu is more likely to be transmitted through airborne particles than through hand contact. However, they disagreed on the extent to which flu is caused by hand contact compared with inhalation of particles.

Jaice and I have been working on our first scare crow and should have pics coming up soon.
We’ve been sewing, cutting, hammering and creating. Its been a lot of hard work, but we have finally got a face on it and its is starting to come to life now.
He stands about 10 feet tall or even taller with a nice creepy look. Instead of using straw, I’ve decided to use some rope that’s been laying around for a long time. We have been untwisting it to make smaller strands and then stuffing it where needed.
The best thing about it is that scarecrows don’t have to be perfect so the less cleaner it looks, the better!
Anyway, that’s the update and I will be taking some photos to post up this weekend.
*We still need to do some shopping for a big hat, corn stalks and an old lantern…if anyone has anything like this to donate, hit me up!
For some reason, I have been thinking about Halloween for the past few months and I just can’t get it out of my head! Its one of my most favorite times of the year and it brings out the kid in me.
This year, the idea has been slated with a Scarecrow theme for the yard and I may possibly get started this weekend. My wife and daughter already dug out the annual Halloween nic-nacs and scattered them around the house…now I feel like I am running behind with my Halloween deco.
So I have just about everything that I need to start working on my scarecrows…posts, fake straw, tree branches and flannel shirts. I just need to get my hands on some burlap for the faces. Things that I still need are hats, trenchcoats and some corn stalks. Thankfully, I don’t have a utility pole around or I will be attempting this giant scarecrow…isn’t that awesome?! Mine will hopefully end up more like this but without the pumpkin head…just want it to be better than the last year or years before that.
Anyway, enjoy the new Halloween edition of WebTurd.com and I will be back later to post photo updates, etc.
Facebook’s user base is nearly as large as the U.S. population and, for the first time, the site has turned a profit.
Facebook now has 300 million users — almost as many as the population of the United States.
Facebook now has 300 million users — almost as many as the population of the United States.
That was the double-barreled announcement Tuesday from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who thanked the site’s users for helping its online community cross the 300 million threshold. There are about 307 million people living in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
“We’re just getting started on our goal of connecting everyone,” Zuckerberg wrote on the company’s blog.
“Because we want to make it as easy and fast as possible for the world to connect, one of the things we think a lot about is how to make Facebook perform even faster and more efficiently as we grow,” he wrote. “We face a lot of fun and important challenges that require rethinking the current systems for enabling information flow across the Web.”
The social networking site, while popular with its exploding user base, has struggled to turn a profit.
But Zuckerberg said the company became profitable last quarter, beating its goal of getting out of the red by the end of 2010.
