Hot, Sweaty and Hot
Thursday, 17 July 2008

The hot summer is finally here. So far, we've only had one 90 degree day this year. Its finally getting hot out now with possible highs in the low 90's today. Whew! The cicadas are chirping real loud and the constant smell of fresh cut grass is in the air.

I remember when I was a kid, I could go outside and play all day in the sweltering heat. Now, I have hard time trying to enjoy it anymore. Anything I do creates an uncomfortable sweat to where its more annoying than anything. I hate when every body part sticks to each other it feels like you are constantly wet.

Here in Indiana, there's hardly ever dry heat...its more sticky and thick than anything. Last night was so hot that you could break a sweat just blinking an eyelid. The gnats are a pain too. There are so many competing with the mosquitoes seeing who can buzz in your ear the most. Just swatting at the bugs generates a stinky sweat. Thankfully we have AC like the good Mother Nature intended.

For some reason the heat made me have a quick flash-back of when I used to work at Indiana Beach. I remember standing in the arcade and pumping my hard earned money into competitive video games like Street Fighter II and Killer Instinct. Being freshly sun burnt, I would be hotter than ever and my only worry was who I was going to play next and do later that night.

Just as all good things coming to an end, Summer will be over soon. Next thing you know, school will be starting, the leaves will be falling and the Colts will be taking to the field for the big win.

Hot days like this make me welcome Autumn with open arms...but I know once Winter sets in, I will yearn for these hot and sticky days once more.
