Well I tried out the single player demo and I wasn't very impressed. The graphics were ok and the sounds were decent but I just couldn't get into it. I guess that my worst annoyance with this game is that I feel like I am on rails. Only one way to go. You can't just take off and explore with out someone yelling at you or telling you to take out a target 1000's of times. The AI is a bunch of idots too. I know that it takes a lot of work to code something like this but you can memorize their repetitive actions within a second of studying them. He ducks, he stands up, he shoots...repeat process. My PC is a few years old and it can handle most games without a problem, but I had to set my graphic settings down fairly low to get a decent frame rate. Any time the action tried to pick up, it got pretty jumpy and laggy. Who knows, multiplayer might be a little bit better and more enjoyable...it seems that they should have worked on releasing a multiplayer demo first. Not a good marketing technique if you ask me. Call of Duty 4 might make a good console game rental but I just think that its a waste of time for PC. I won't be buying this game. Bookmark

The action was incredible. The graphics incredible. This is just another rant by someone who is a OFP/ArmA fan boy. And its completly bias. I played OFP from the get go for years, and I've played ArmA from the get go. COD 4 is an awesome game. |

Isn't that what all games right now do? Why take it out on Call of Duty? If you hate the AI so much, borrow the game from a friend and play a couple of multiplayer matches. At first, it's repetitive but after, you start to like it. And don't say you wouldn't buy a game based off on a demo. Demos usually only incorporate a portion of the game, and the actual thing might be a lot better. (#2 most played game on Xfire) Are you talking about Call of Duty 4 for the PC ONLY, or are you including it for the console versions. At the end you said "might make a good console rental", but right after that "waste of time for the PC" just ruined the train of thought. |

I enter a level, I go one way..enemies continue to respawn...yes respawn (dissappear out of thin air ) because the programers pretty much realized with the AI being so bad that you would go in and kill everyone in the room within a matter of minutes. I bought this game and wish I could get my money back. Oh and by the way, I have a 360 and I don't want to get xbox live, so that leaves me with a multiplayer offline..which sucks in this game. Really limited. Oh blackwater, by the way, Flashpoint is about 200 times better than this game, who are you trying to kid. Fan boy or not, that's like comparing a Honda to a Corvette. Stop trying, you already look stupid. |

Whether you're flanking an enemy to mow them down with a light machine gun, providing cover fire from a rooftop, or sniping a v.i.p from hundreds of feet away, this game never fails to change it up. Next up, too linear, eh? Why would a soldier on a mission of incredible importance want to roam around and explore when there is a mission at hand? You're not the highest ranking soldier in the group either so of course they're gonna bark orders at you and tell you to get back to the mission. This is a mission to save millions of lives and whatnot. You wanna roam around? Go play Oblivion or Far Cry or something.. As for the graphics, this game has awesome graphics. There really isn't much room for an argument here, it's pretty much in stone here. It's a good game. When I played the demo for the first time I thought what is this shit, the view bob is crazy, the fov is super close and the grenade indicator sucks dick. But then I played the full version from start to end, and now I think that it's wicked. It's proof that even with an engine that looks a outdated you can still create a masterpiece. A very good story line, though I do wish they stuck to one character for the whole game, and a satisfying ending. So fight through the horde of soldier clones, I gurantee you it's worth it. |

Because you only get 20-40 fps with Q6600 8800GT(G92) on Windows XP 64 Bit Directx 9 High Settings?? 8800GTX Overclocked 25-40 fps in Vista Directx 10 Very High settings? If you're saying that a game sucks because you can't run it, then your brain and your computer suck, you can quit gaming. Personally, in the multiplayer version, this game is far more competitive and difficult than any other FPS games. Have you ever check the CEVO P match video? You will see the difference. And just to let all the noobs know, in CEVO CoD4 matches, they have a mod that disables the ranking system, and if you cry about your low rank, then learn to hack it. |

I mean, Crysis and Quake Wars have nice big maps. And I know what youre thinking "there are no vehicles, thats why the maps are so small." No vehicles?! I was playing shipment headquarters (if you have ever played COD4, you know how this goes) i spawned in the same place 5 times in a row and the same guy killed me with his SAW. He was sitting in a corner spraying and tossing gernades. I quit the game and put COD4 in my closet and havent touched it since. Dont get me wrong the Singleplayer for COD4 is way better than Halo 3 but Halo 3 MP gameplay is sooooo much better than COD4. |

Your buddy magically appears behind you a few seconds later, and all the bad guys seemed to have UNspawned! So it's more of a arcade type game, finding the right route, scripts instead of AI. It's very cinematic, very well coriagraphed, great character animation, but I lost interest after realising the game wasn't dependant on how skilled a shooter you were, they are just pushing you through a series of cinematic events, it doesn't matter how many of the bad guys you kill. A completely different game from Crysis's first half. Looks great, though everything is static as in other cod games, no trees move. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but still am wondering how in the hell this game got such a high rating, just because it looks great? |

COD 4 is hardly a 9 in my book. This game suffers from what seems to be plaguing the gaming industry. Sacrifice building a great game for a mediocre one that is exactly like the prequel but with less features... but BETTER GRAPHICS! Hopefully Rockstar will continue breaking that trend. I've had COD4 on PS3 for a week, and besides being wowed by some good looking graphics there really isn't much that keeps this game interesting. I think if they had just kept this game in the oven for a few more months... they could have added so much more in the way of gameplay. The single player mode is annoying because there is no freedom, as raygun says, the gamer is trapped in a canned chain of events. The checkpoints and game conditions make the mechanics of the game very disappointing. It's like the terrible rip-off games of old that were more a series of cinematic cut-scenes than any substantial gameplay. Not to mention there are a few minor glitches. There's just disorganized chaos. It's not anything like what a real battle looks like. When is there ever a city with no people in it besides enemies and friends (besides maybe chernobyl)? It's just cowboys vs. saddams, or ruskies v brits. Is collateral damage too hot a button for such an edgy game? But also... where the fuck are the vehicles in multiplayer? A fucking chopper after 7 kills? Give me a break. At least some levels have mounted machine guns, but no one is smart enough to be able to move them, and better believe the Vets know 100 different ways to take you out of there in a hurry. So the best mow down weapon is the hand held M60. Oh well. Why build such a great frame and then punt on doing anything creative and fun with it? So in summation... it's a good game, but it's no cla*sic. |

COD4 blows.. I played it for the first time on Saturday, and I killed 6 people with one shot, I had never played the game before, and I got #1, three times in a row.. The game is horrible! It takes NO SKILL at all! You could take that game into a kindergarten cla*s and they could get kills! The only reason people like COD4 is because they suck at all other shooters, i.e.: Halo 3 and Gears of War. Hell, Minesweeper takes more skill then COD4. |

I think the game is decent, the multi-player in my opinion is the best part about it. The game isnt ment to be based in large scale battles, but more into the front lines in urban/ close quater combat. I think it does that very well, the graphics are good in my opinion but could of done with a bit more work. But all in all it is a good game! And minesweeper isnt a first person shooter is it? lol Cya |

I had to comment after reading these. The reason I came here is that I started playing Cod4 today. After hearing how great it was i decided to give it a try. I beat the sp crysis and started playing its mp but with the "server authorization" error that is tormenting that game i am unable to play atm. SO....Cod4 it is for the moment. Although that moment is going to be short lived i think. The Sp mode is a movie that you can participate in if you want. I even tested this. If you stand back the other members of your team that are computer controlled will kill all the bad guys and you dont have sh%t to do. Also the your team mates get in the way all the time. I can't count the number of time i was killed because one of my teammates forced me out from behind cover or would not allow me to get behind cover. Absolute nonsense. And to all of those here that are saying how dumb we are for giving Cod4 a bad review, you are showing how novice you are in the gaming world. And thats ok. You just need to realize that you are not a real gamer. For future reference, you should make sure when your trying to pick a game, stay away from the real games that are in depth and complicated for you. |

I thought the single player was good for a twice-through. I beat it in about a day on the Regular and Hardened difficulties, got bored with it on the first level after that. It has a good feel to it, though. The multiplayer, however. What a snorefest. Thanks, guys but I played this back when Perfect Dark came out for the N64. Have they really been able to change nothing about multiplayer in the last EIGHT YEARS? Come on. We've gone from 50 pound TVs to 50-inch TVs and we can't find anything better about multiplayer than hoping you' can aim faster than the other players? There's no strategy involved. And there's no split-screen. Seriously, how hard is it to make a game that can operate while receiving input from 2 controllers at once and putting the images next to eachother on TV? AND WHERE ARE MY BOTS? Seriously. I played against bots all the time in Perfect Dark. We use AI for the enemies during single player mode, why can't we get some AI enemies in a split-screen match? Unbelievable. Apparently split-screen gaming is dead. You hear that? All you people with real life friends who don't exist solely as a handle in another country. Playing with your real life friends is dead. Especially if you're cool enough to have more than one real life friend. You might as well stab your real life friends through the head with a pitchfork, because you're never going to play an FPS with them again. |

As long as you always have an objective and are shooting at somebody, you kinda forget about the "one-way" deal. |
