DJ Brow is Back…Kinda.
For my 33rd birthday, my wife hooked me up with a brand new set of turntables. Its been about 5 years since the last time that I touched anything like this and I forgot how much fun it was.
Here is what I got:
1 Numark DM950 mixer
2 Numark TT1625 turntables with cartridges and a pair of slipmats
1 pair of Numark HF125 headphones, and all connecting cables.
These are far better than the old plastic-fisher price turntables that I use to have. I can scratch and mix without the needle jumping all over the place. So hopefully, some day I will be able to do this:
So tonight, an ol’ buddy of mine is going to bring over a pallet of old records that took many trips to places like Indy and Chicago to collect some classics.
Sure, the mixing is probably going to sound like a trian wreck, but it will be fun and provides for a great stress reliever. Back in the day when I used to play around on the turntables, the internet wasn’t what it is today and now, there are 1000s of tutorials that I can follow when I get bored.
Check this out. First listen to this song by the Emotions called Blind Alley.
And then check out the video below of DJ Babu’s mix.
*Caution* Those that do not appreciate hip hop and turntablists will probably not get this video. : )
Happy Birthday Brow….Sounds like you got something you have always wanted and it is bringing out the kid in you LOL!
Have Fun…
