My First Palm Pre Application
Recently, I enrolled in The Palm Developer Program and became an “official” Palm Pre Developer. Learning this app stuff is almost fun and what’s great about it is that some is based on HTML and CSS. I first started out with the SDK and setting up a virtual machine that emulated the Palm Pre locally…was a pain really. Now, there is a program to use online called Project Ares that makes it go even smoother. With Ares, I can preview the changes directly on my phone that’s plugged in via USB.
I just recently submitted this application to PreCentral for their app gallery and it just went live today. My next step is to submit it to Palm and get it circulating in there as well. This release is exciting to me so expect to see more when I have some extra time to play around with some other ideas!
You can download the application or .ipk file from the following link or use the Preware application to install. Here is the link: http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-apps/prexcuse-pre-excuse-maker
PreXcuse – Pre Excuse Maker
If you are on the phone and need to come up with an excuse to hang up, try out this app. I created this for personal use and works quite well. I thought since it actually is convincing that some of you might enjoy or make use of it. The only problem is that it cannot be used while talking on the Palm Pre phone. Because the phone app takes priority on the sound, it silences all other apps. Future Pre updates may possibly change this.
Check out the screen shots below for sound list details. Sounds have been edited to present a clear and loud sound through the Palm Pre speaker.
