Perseid Meteor Shower 2010

Its that time of the year again! Should be 80 meteors per hour at peak so shouldn’t be hard to catch one.

One of the best opportunities for sky watching and time-lapse photography is right around the corner. The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks August 12-13 above North American skies, and forecasters are expecting a lively show – about 80 meteors per hour during peak display!

The Perseids appear to come from the constellation Perseus, but are actually bits of debris from the Swift-Tuttle comet, which has been orbiting the sun for centuries. The Earth passes through these streams of shooting stars every August.

So make those viewing party plans and don’t forget your cameras.
